To those who want to make a REAL difference…
“How You Can Be At The Forefront
Of A New Therapeutic Intervention Concept - Already Helping To Change Lives Throughout The UK And
Europe”
But Only Open-Minded Professionals Who
Work In The Fields Of Addictions And Social Behaviour Issues Need Apply
Dear
fellow Professional,
If you have fears, frustrations and uncertainties that the therapeutic models and interventions
you use everyday may not be as effective as they could be… and sometimes wish there was something else you could
try that was a little bit out of the ‘norm’ to make the kind of breakthrough with your patient/client that brings a
real and lasting change to their life… then I have something to tell you that will…
Dramatically Help To Change The Way You Interact
With Your Clients, Patients And Colleagues
My
name is Geoffrey McMullan and
I gained my MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling at South Bank University, London.
Please
read on, as I’m about to reveal to you a new way of approaching a therapeutic intervention, that while slightly
controversial, has brought amazing results to groups and individuals with challenging behaviours as diverse as
addictions to social behaviour problems.
The
intervention I’m talking about is called ‘Natural Awareness.’
Now
here’s the important thing: Natural Awareness promotes behavioural, cognitive and affective change. It demonstrates
an integrated approach working synergistically with other therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Techniques,
Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and 12-Steps.
In
fact, with the results I’ve been getting – and what you’ll see as well is…
The Result Is GREATER Than
A Single Therapy Used In
Isolation
I
firmly believe, as a therapeutic intervention, Natural Awareness compliments mainstream models.
And the time is right for me to show
you how this new approach works with groups and individuals based on my
experiences working with addicts and other client groups in the UK
and Europe.
So here’s the chance for
open-minded counsellors, therapists, social workers, police officers or
anyone else who works with individuals and groups, to explore a radical and original way of working with
challenging behaviours ranging from addicts to youth offenders.
So
what’s this all about?
Simply
this: I’ve devised a programme to train a group of Natural Awareness Practitioners in the effectiveness of this
remarkable intervention technique.
What
I’m offering you today is the opportunity to take part in my Natural Awareness courses.
At its
heart, the course employs a series of outdoor games and exercises, held
in a woodland setting, as well as music and metaphor…
Designed To Allow You To See Outside The Normal Counselling Environment
You’ll
be presented with the opportunity to physically experience the therapeutic value of your philosophy by approaching
it in a natural environment, all with the aim of providing you with another tool in your professional therapeutic
toolbox to support you and your clients/patients.
When
you’re on the course, the group will process each game and exercise - with a group discussion at the end - to look
at different approaches and possible ways of conducting future research into Natural Awareness and its
effects.
It’s
also intended to set up a working network between course participants.
This eight day camping course (I prefer to see it as a ‘shared journey’) will build on your
already established skills and experience by…
Giving You Some New And Innovative Ways Of Approaching Your Work
During this shared journey, I will challenge you and I expect you to
challenge and question me. If you don't - I will ask you “why not?” However, it’s important to know you won’t
be asked to do anything you don’t wish to do as the course is about YOU and not me.
Okay, here’ re some of the games/exercises you will be engaged
in:
- Meet a Tree
- Drum Stalk
- Blindfold Tag
- Individual reflection time known as a Sit-Spot
Plus, if you can play an
instrument - please do bring it along.
Now this is the critical thing: It’s hoped you’ll leave the course
with the view to delivering these games to your client group for their greater good, having experienced it
through your own personal journey.
So here in a nutshell is what’s contained in the course – and what
YOU can expect to get out of it:
- You get to participate in everything we do on the course. This gives you a unique appreciation of what
you’ll ask your clients/patients to do. You’ll see, hear, feel, taste and touch everything they’ll experience
in the Natural Awareness intervention games and activities. When you do this, your level of
understanding will be so deep and profound, you’ll know in your heart of hearts this really does
work. And how often do you
get to experience feelings like that in your daily work life?
- The games and different interventions Nature provides will give you new, exciting tools to
work with. Imagine how fulfilling your work will be as you use the new intervention to benefit not only your
patients/clients, but your professional standing among your peers.
- You’ll be entitled to after care, which consists of one, one-hour free consultation session,
1-to-1 with me, within the first month of completing the course. This means you can contact me at anytime in
that month and discuss any issues that come up, or if you want to clarify any challenging thoughts, feelings or
emotions in your own mind.
- Following on from the first session, you’ll also be entitled to one half-hour consultation
for the next five months. However, should you require longer, there will be a small fee. Once again, we’ll
explore any lingering doubts, questions and issues you may have. This will allow you to totally embed the
Natural Awareness intervention in your own mind, so you’ll feel confident, energised and liberated as you use
this new tool in your daily work.
- As one of a select band of professionals trained in using Natural Awareness in your work,
you’ll have the opportunity to return on my future courses as a helper/counsellor were the need arises. This is
a great opportunity for you to push and expand your frontiers with Natural Awareness as an
intervention. Being seen
in the vanguard of a new concept can be challenging and exhilarating in its own
right.
- You’ll receive your own free copy of my Natural Awareness booklet. It provides guidance,
explanations and full colour drawings of how to organise, play and participate in the games. Having a sound
understanding of these techniques helps you to get the most from your
clients/patients. Plus their level of trust in you - the facilitator - goes up as
well. And lets face
it, that’s one of the most important assets you can have with your clients/patients isn’t
it?
- On completion of
the course, as a valued colleague, you’ll receive a generous £50 discount voucher off the next course of your
choice - valid for two years. That helps you plan the next stage of your development as a pioneer of this powerful, but
extremely effective, therapeutic intervention.
So there’s some of what’s in store for you on the
course.
But, it’s also important to say at this point, none of this is set in
stone because I KNOW how powerful Natural Awareness is. And there will be times before, during and
after the games/activities when profound personal experiences take place within the
group. And these
experiences, feelings and questions need to be processed in a sympathetic, sharing and supportive manner –
just like YOU do in YOUR work with YOUR clients.
Still not convinced Natural Awareness is a viable therapeutic
intervention? Well...
Here’s What Some
Of Our Fellow Professionals Have To Say…
According to (Mortensen, 2006; Dorell, 2006; & Ward, 2007)
Natural Awareness has demonstrated its potential as a therapeutic intervention. This is what they had to say
about its effects on their patients…
(Dorell, 2006) a consultant psychiatrist stated that Natural Awareness was...
"able to create the bridge that we were unable to create... enabling them to respond to more
traditional treatment methods" |
|
|
|
Another counsellor had the following to say...
"It works on the spiritual side of the disease, which is hard to deliver to the patients... Nature
Awareness workshops have been of great help to the treatment team. It has helped us to explore areas
that we would never have got by conventional therapies" (Mortensen, 2006) |
|
|
|
While (Ward, 2007) an independent counsellor, referring to her client who had taken part in Natural
Awareness, stated that it was an...
"Integral part of her recovery... which focused on the here and now" |
|
|
|
Now that’s all well and good, but what of the
clients/patients?
Well…
Here Are Some
Comments From Participants Who’ve
Benefited
From Natural Awareness Experiences…
Nickie:
"I was unsure about being blindfolded and having to trust someone to lead me over such uneven ground
with so many obstacles and obvious pitfalls... when I took part I found I was able to trust the person
leading me" |
|
|
|
|
Dawn:
"I found the whole experience fascinating..... I was comfortable under the blindfold and was
surprised by how calm I felt once I had it on... I immediately trusted my "sight-guide" without
question, that is something that I don't normally do (especially a male)"
|
|
|
|
John:
"I feel that working with groups other than my own group at rehab is a great thing and I learnt to
trust other people a lot more. ...It's very therapeutic" |
|
|
|
Peter:
"Natural Awareness was 50% of my recovery"
|
|
|
|
Jane:
"If I step back and look at this from an Attachment Theory perspective... I knew that my partner was
close, and he gave me the space to move away and explore, knowing that I could come back to him or that
he would rescue me if I was in any real danger.
My partner and I were reunited once I had arrived 'HOME' to the drum... Rogers' Core Conditions had
already been established... which enabled me to trust in the process... Unconditional Positive Regard,
Congruence and Empathy were all present... The essence of these conditions were radiating from nature
itself" |
